Usability with fewer barriers

Accessibility Statement

We want our website to be understandable and usable for as many people as reasonably possible.

This statement describes the current public website, what has been reviewed, and where limitations may remain.

Our Commitment

Accessibility is part of good customer experience.

People should be able to understand BES information, find the next step, and ask for help without facing avoidable barriers.

We continually improve usability as content, forms, navigation, and customer journeys evolve.

Current Accessibility Features

Features currently present in the public website implementation.

These are implementation observations, not a formal conformance claim.

  • 01

    Semantic headings and page structure

Pages use a main landmark, one primary heading, section headings, and semantic lists or definitions where the content requires them.

  • 02

    Keyboard-supporting navigation

Skip links, visible focus indicators, native links and buttons, and a menu button with an updated expanded state support keyboard use.

  • 03

    Responsive layouts

Layouts reflow through defined breakpoints, and controls avoid fixed desktop-only widths.

  • 04

    Readable text

Fluid text sizing, line spacing, constrained reading widths, and strong foreground/background combinations support reading.

  • 05

    Descriptive links and labels

Calls to action describe their destination or purpose, and forms use visible labels, hints, and associated error messages.

  • 06

    Status and preference support

Form status messages use live regions, page languages are identified, and reduced-motion preferences shorten transitions and animations.

Known Limitations

The website has not received an independent accessibility conformance audit.

Improvements are ongoing, and barriers not yet identified may remain.

  • Testing coverage is limited. The current review includes source inspection and rendered desktop checks. It is not a complete screen-reader, high-contrast, zoom/reflow, voice-control, or assistive-technology assessment across every route.
  • No WCAG level is claimed.BES does not claim formal conformance or certification until sufficient independent evidence exists.
  • Different environments may behave differently.Browser, device, operating-system, and assistive-technology combinations have not all been tested.
  • Feedback is needed. If something prevents you from reading content, using a control, completing a form, or understanding the next step, please tell us.

Continuous Improvement

Accessibility is reviewed as the website evolves.

New pages and major changes should be reviewed for structure, keyboard use, focus visibility, readable content, responsive reflow, labels, status messages, and reduced-motion behavior.

Reported barriers should be recorded, reviewed, prioritized according to customer impact, and followed through with a clear next step.

This is a working commitment, not a certification. Any future conformance statement must be supported by an appropriate assessment.
